History of Pacha Surf Beach

Pacha Surf Beach was founded by Samir Molabecirovic in 2013. He decided to act on his dream, which has now developed into one of the largest kitesurfing schools on the 14km long Velika Plaza beach strip. Samir’s wife, Anne Valvatne from Norway, is also part of this dream and also a professional kitesurfer. In 2024 Samir and Anne partnered with their friend and local enthusiast Zoran Dočić.

Pacha is a place where people come to relax, enjoy, and have a good time together along with our local team. It is a place where the international atmosphere makes everyone feel welcome. This is a special place where couples, groups, single travelers, and families can equally enjoy their time either relaxing on our sun beds, having a drink in the bar, playing beach volleyball, having the first kitesurf lesson, or a combination of all options above.

THE SPOT AND LOCATION

Pacha Surf Beach is especially ideal for beginner and intermediate kitesurfers due to its wide sandy beach, waist deep water and steady side-onshore wind. The sand is incredibly smooth without any rocks or shells. Also, Pacha is the one of the few kite centers along the Velika Plaza, that aims to make sure there are no swimmers in the kite zone during any windy hours of the day. 

From May through September, the Albanian Alps in the south bring steady thermal winds that hit the coast in the early afternoon at 16 to 22 knots. This usually requires a kite size of 9-12m2 during high season (mid-June to end-August) and a larger kite size of 12-15m2 during low season (May to mid-June and September).

The wind usually kicks in like a clock during the early hours of the afternoon. Thus, in the mornings you can relax or explore the beautiful nature in the surrounding area. Our team is happy to give advice on where to go and what to see! As tides don’t exist in Montenegro, you can start kiting whenever the wind kicks in.

If you come in July or August, wetsuits are not necessary unless you easily sunburn. During the months of May and September, we advise that kitesurfers wear a long wetsuit (2/3) or shorty. A few kilometers downwind there is a river mouth with perfect flat (calm) water. It is one of the best flat water spots you will ever find!
